Directory of NVR Providers

The following list includes therapists and/or practitioners who use NVR in their work and were either trained by CNTP or by bodies recognized by CNTP. A person’s qualification as NVR-informed or NVR-oriented signifies that this person has underwent foundation or advanced level training with us, respectively. NVR-Oriented also recognises certain advanced level trainings outside CNTP. Both designations do not indicate certification, nor attest to a person’s skill in applying NVR.

Certified therapists and/or practitioners are persons who satisfy the full set of our certification requirements as outlined in our certification guide.

If you can't find an NVR provider in your area, CNTP is open to working in collaboration with licensed therapists who are interested in obtaining hand-on NVR experience.

I offer caregivers nonjudgmental support, coupled with practical intervention plans that allow them to regain a sense of peace and safety within their homes and themselves, while also improving their relationship with their child.

About myself

I am deeply interested in Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) as a therapeutic method because it aligns with my commitment to fostering non-confrontational, supportive environments for families dealing with psychological challenges. As a therapist, I find NVR particularly effective when working with parents of young adults experiencing 'failure to launch' (FTL). This method empowers parents to assertively and calmly address issues without escalating conflicts, which is crucial for promoting healthier family dynamics.

In my practice, I often integrate NVR with Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). This combination is especially beneficial for parents of young adults with FTL, as it helps them reduce accommodating behaviors and encourages the young adults to develop greater independence and resilience. By using NVR and SPACE, I aim to create a collaborative and empathetic therapeutic process that supports both parents and their young adult children in overcoming the challenges of FTL.

About myself

Since 2015 we implement our model of neuro de-escalation into the concept of NVR. We are proud to be part of the community of people who really want to make an impact.

Neuro de-escalation is a way to connect with people who activate their survival reactions like fight, flight or freeze or engage in stabilizing strategies like suicidal behaviour, self-harm or other serious moments. Achieve agency in otherwise helpless situations. If you want to inform, klick: www.neurodeescalation.com.

We provide Online Support for professionals, carers and parents who deal with children and young people with severe violence and aggression, trauma and high levels of arousal. We welcome not only professionals such as social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists and child mental health nurses, but also foster carers, residential carers and parents, as well as the professionals who support them.

About myself

I first introduced NVR to the UK in 2001 and have since gone on to train large numbers of professionals in the approach. Due to the high incidence of ACEs in the population of interest children, I developed a child-focused and trauma-informed adaptation of NVR. An overview of this adaptation has been published in my 2022 book "Dem Trauma Widerstand Leisten), with an English language edition being published this year: Non-violent Resistance in Trauma-focused Practice: Routledge. I am very interested in issues pertaining to social justice that form a context for harmful behavior within families. A further area of interest is integrating principles and methods of NVR into general therapy with young people, individual adults and families.
